A candidate for Indianola’s Ward 2, Ross told Warren’s Voice that his top priorities were public safety, finding a solution to the city’s library problem, and “restoring fiscal responsibility”. Fiscal responsibility is a theme Brad Ross has returned to many times. He said he would, “view the city council like that of a business”.

At the forum, Ross expressed his concern that the city’s spending practices would leave Indianola without appropriate reserves, famously noting that there was “$4 million that’s unaccounted for”.

Ross told Warren’s Voice, “A community needs a healthy reserve for unforeseen emergencies and funds earmarked for capital improvements,” and that the current reserve is depleted “to dangerously concerning levels.”

Before each meeting, Brad Ross bows his head and prays, “Dear Lord, give me strength and understanding. Amen.” Ross hopes to bring both strength and understanding to the Indianola City Council.

I agree with what Brad Ross is saying. When I went over what has happened here in Indianola, I saw that many “changes” have already been finalized. But, when I looked at the changes and the revenue to implement those changes, I saw a real gap in funding for all those “changes” that seem to be “already in-the-works.” So putting the cart-before-the-horse seems to be our towns problem. If we lack the funding, then how do we accomplish anything that is supposed to happen. The library is too small, and it seems that the building can’t hold the weight of a second story, or so we are told. Then you add in all the other changes and you see we are not able to afford the cost of those changes. So maybe we need someone who will make our town face the facts and figure out what can be done, rather than what we dream of getting done?
I will add; what is the deal with the concrete art forms? They look like they need some detail. I will volunteer to paint them next year, if the sculpture artist does not mind? I do question as to what they are supposed to be, and how were they paid for?
