In less than an hour, Adam Steen will announce that he is running for governor. You can watch that annoucement live here.
On his webiste, Steen describes himself as pro-life, pro-family, pro-property rights, and pro-Iowa.
Comparing himself to President Trump, Steen says he’s not a career politican but instead, “I’m a baseball player turned businessman who led Iowa’s operations under Governor Reynolds—making government run like it should, cutting waste, protecting kids, and defending our Iowa values every step of the way.”
Steen argues that he can protect the gains made by Kim Reynold’s administration, saying,
Don’t ever forget that before Governor Reynolds took a stand, they put men in your daughter’s sports and bathrooms. They taught your kids lies about who they are and who they could become. And they tried to tax every last dime you have in order to fund it. Our state is stronger than ever, but that doesn’t mean we can sit back. We must continue to engage, continue to work, and continue to fight.
His entrance into the race means that Iowa Republicans will have another candidate to consider as they cast their votes for the next governor of Iowa.
