Why I Moved To Warren County

After living my entire life in Des Moines, I took a leap and moved my family to Warren County. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Here’s why.

Apart from a few years as an infant and toddler in Ankeny, I’ve lived my entire life in Des Moines. I love Des Moines. I enjoy the shops, restaurants, and attractions. All my memories from childhood and early married years are tied to Iowa’s capital city.

So, you’d think I would be reluctant to leave. But as my family grew, I knew it was time. And I couldn’t be more excited!

The city I grew up in has changed. I will not allow my kids to ride their bikes in the areas I grew up riding my bike. Crime, while always present, has gotten out of control. Especially in recent years, many businesses, shops, and even government buildings think it’s necessary to plaster their buildings with symbols and messages that make it clear that people with my values aren’t welcomed.

There are many factors for Des Moines’ recent dysfunction. But the fact that it’s been under Democratic control for as long as I can remember certainly contributes.

So that’s why I bought a fixer-upper and moved my family to Indianola. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I love the authentic community found in Warren County. I love all the businesses doing their part to uphold our economy and our values. I love the faith community that’s here. I love that I can raise my children in an environment that is pulling the same direction I am.

That’s one of the reasons I started Warren’s Voice. The values that make this county special deserve to be promoted and defended.

If you feel the same way, join the fight to keep Warren County a sanctuary for faith, family, and flourishing.
