Iowa’s governor was one of 26 governors who expressed their support for the former and future president’s immigration policies. The statement said:

As Republican governors, we stand united in support of President Donald Trump’s unwavering commitment to make America safe again by addressing the illegal immigration crisis and deporting illegal immigrants who pose a threat to our communities and national security.

The statement criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its failure to secure the nation’s border. The governors said that in light of the federal government’s failure “it was Republican governors who took action.”

Gov. Reynolds and the other Republican governors expressed hopefulness about President Trump’s return to the White House. They stated that they would use their authority as governors, including the use of the National Guard, to support Trump’s priority to secure the border and protect Americans. The statement said,

Together, we will continue to defend the American people, uphold the rule of law, and ensure our nation remains safe and secure for future generations. We stand ready to utilize every tool at our disposal—whether through state law enforcement or the National Guard—to support President Trump in this vital mission.

On Saturday, December 14th, the left-leaning Des Moines Register ran a front page story on the statement. The Warren County Central Committee is anticipating that “liberals will be flooding the Governor’s phone line complaining.”

The Central Committee called upon Warren County residents to push back against the leftwing protestations, saying,

Each of us needs to call the Governor and leave her a short message expressing our support! Be sure and tell her your name and town so she knows you are an Iowa constituent. Share this with like-minded folks!

The governor’s office can be reached at (515)281-5211.

Securing our border and enforcing immigration law is important to keeping our local communities safe. But this requires leaders like Trump and Reynolds to enforce our laws.

The Republican Governor’s joint statement concluded, “The time for action is now. Together, we will make America safe again.”
