Opinion: Democrat Candidates Have Betrayed Us

Our Democratic candidates betrayed us. They claim to be loyal Americans. They claim to favor transparency and oppose secrecy. They claim to be moderate and mainstream. When the Democratic Party is taken over by extremists who pose a threat to our Constitution and our republican form of government, they have a duty to speak out. Why didn’t Democratic candidates Spencer Waugh, Sinikka Waugh, Rory Taylor, Christina Bohannan, Josh Turek, and Rob Sand warn us? Why keep it a secret? Do they agree with the extremists?

They should have shouted their warnings and protests from the rooftops. They did not.

They have failed us and failed miserably.

What am I talking about?

The Democratic Party has a duty under Iowa statutes and their party Constitution

to create a party platform at their state convention. The purpose of the platform is to inform the public of the party’s stand on the issues. Until this year, the Democratic Party, like the Republican Party, published their platform online. The Republican platform has been available online and at local Republican headquarters. The 2026 Democratic Platform was never published online by the party and is not available at local or state Democratic Party headquarters.

The secret Iowa Democratic Party Platform was finally released by Bleedingheartland.com, a liberal website which claims it does not know why it was kept secret.

We now know why. The Democrats adopted an extremist, socialist platform which mimics the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America. It calls for the destruction of many elements of our form of government and replacement with a European socialist system. That is why it was secret.

The Iowa Democratic Party Platform Demands:

1. Eliminating the Electoral College, the United States Senate, the filibuster and the two party system.

2. Expanding the House of Representatives and making it supreme over the Executive and the Judiciary, thereby eliminating the system of checks and balances which restrains government power.

3. Expanding the Supreme Court.

4. Competitive multi-party democracy.

The Electoral College and the Senate were enshrined in the Constitution in part to protect the small states like Iowa. The Senate and the filibuster are intended to ensure thoughtful, deliberative actions and forestall radical ones.

Democratic candidates should know this. They are the leaders. They were either at the convention or in close contact. If a candidate claims to not know the major policy proposals in his party’s platform, that is a confession of incompetence and neglect of duty to know where his party stands and whether he agrees with it.

Other provisions: 1. A parent denying “gender affirming care”, I.e. puberty blockers, wrong sex hormones, and mutilation surgeries, is “child abuse”. 2. Schools can hide child sex transitions from parents. 3. Boys in girls sports/locker rooms. 4. Repealing prohibitions on sex act depictions/descriptions in schools, leftist indoctrination, and racist/sexist DEI. 5. Police and guns banned from schools. 6. Repeal self-defense castle doctrine and stand your ground laws. Ban modern rifles/magazines. Mandatory expensive repetitive training courses for gun owners. Background check if you sell/buy a gun from your cousin or friend. Mandatory gun liability insurance.

Do not reward Betrayers. Vote for Samantha Fett, Brooke Boden, Hollie Zajicek, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Ashley Hinson and Zach Lahn!
