Referred to by the president as the “Southern White House”, Mar-a-Lago, located in Palm Beach, FL, has become a symbol of Donald Trump’s resolve and influence. The National Historic Landmark was infamously raided by Biden’s FBI in 2021, sparking outrage. It was also where Trump was on the night he won re-election.

Turning Point USA, the conservative organization founded by the martyred Charlie Kirk, recently held an event at Mar-a-Lago. One of the guests hails from Warren County.

Adam Steen was born in Burlington, but claims Indianola as where he grew up, having graduated from Indianola High School. He is currently a Republican candidate for Iowa governor. We asked him about his experience at the Trump property.

Steen told us, “That was an amazing experience and that is the understatement of my year!” He added, “It was absolutely amazing – the opportunity to be part of a gala that supported TP USA. I left with more motivation than ever to ensure to the best of my ability that a TP USA chapter is on every high school campus and college campus across the state of Iowa.”

Commenting on the enthused young people he saw, Adam Steen said, “I believe that the younger generation needs the older generation to clear a path for them, either by lifting them up or moving out of the way.” He added, “The energy that was in that room for conservative, biblical values would blow your mind.”

On his social media, Steen said, “What a time in Mar-a-Lago! Turning Point USA and Erika Kirk brought clarity, conviction, and a sense of urgency we can’t ignore.”

The event, and others like it, represent the legacy of Charlie Kirk and the rising wave of conservative young people becoming more involved in the culture.
