Satanic Temple Tries To Hold Event At Iowa Capitol (Again)

Last year, Warren’s Voice reported that the Satanic Temple of Iowa attempted to host an event at the Iowa State Capitol. That effort was stopped at the time. But now, the Satanic Temple is trying to host an event on December 13th, 2025.

The Satanic Temple files a request to hold an “all-ages” event.

The Satanic Temple is an anti-religion organization that uses satanic imagery to mock Christianity. In an effort to push religious expression out of public spaces, the organization has attempted to hold an “all-ages” event at our capitol building.

Last year, the effort was stopped by Gov. Kim Reynolds and then-director of the Department of Administrative Services Adam Steen. But this year, the Satanic Temple tried (again) to host an event at the capitol. And (again) Iowa officials have rejected their request.

“Today the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) has denied an event request from the Satanic Temple based on the grounds that the event was also denied last year,” said department spokesperson Tami Wiencek.

Adam Steen, now a candidate for Iowa governor, held a press conference at the capitol, praising the decision.

“The people of Iowa made it very clear they did not want this filth at our statehouse,” Steen said. “They demand clarity on where other candidates stand in this governor’s race as well.”
