According to the DMACC website, District 4 includes, “All that portion lying within Carlisle, Indianola, Interstate 35, Martensdale-St Marys, Melcher-Dallas, Norwalk, Pleasantville, Southeast Warren, Van Meter and Winterset School Districts; also the portion of WAUKEE school that is contained in the following precincts: West Des Moines 221, 222, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 321 & 322.”

Noting that, “DMACC has become a cornerstone of our community”, incumbent Kevin Halterman touted his tenure at DMACC. He said, “As a long-time advocate for accessible education and economic development, I am committed to ensuring DMACC continues offering programs that lead to real-world success—for students, for families, and fuel our local job market.”

Halterman is currently the president of the board.

Wade Robinson is challenging Halterman for his seat on the board. He promised to put students first. He has also drawn attention to “areas of wasted taxpayer funds.” He notes, “$14,781 for a DEI Certificate for 1 staff [member]”, “$9,999.96 annually for President Denson that is not disclosed or audited,” and “MUCH more wasted tax funds.”

Robinson also pledges to “advocate for transparency and accountability regarding sexual misconduct at DMACC.” He says he “will support legal gun owners on the DMACC Campuses.”

Voters can help decide between these two candidates by November 4.
