This Sunday is Mother’s Day. Not only is it a day to celebrate our wonderful moms, it’s also a declaration of war on everything the Left stands for.

The Left is in an awkward position where mothers are concerned. The Democratic Party tries to posture itself as the pro-woman party while being unable to define woman. They claim to support mothers while promoting abortion and de-emphasizing the essential role of mothers.
But more than being perplexed by Mother’s Day, the Left is terrified of mothers.
The fact is, motherhood represents something that should (and does) terrify the Left. The traditional, motherly role threatens to undo the system of power that they’ve built.
There’s a scene in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book where the tiger Shere Khan is attempting to steal the “man cub” from the wolf family who has adopted him. The narrator says that the tiger was pretty sure he could defeat the father-wolf but he knew he had no chance of beating a mother-wolf in her den defending her cubs.

In the jungle of our modern society, predators still flee from a mother in her home protecting her children.
A mother training her own children and showing up at school board meetings undermines the system of indoctrination.
A mother working in concert with her husband and children to perpetuate their own values is an authority structure tyrants can’t get a hold of.
A mother working diligently in the home is an economic sphere that the overreaching state can’t manipulate.
In short, motherhood is the death of Leftism.
So this Mother’s Day is about celebrating the moms in our life. But it’s also a cultural statement.
Mother’s Day represents family, freedom, and flourishing.
As they raise their children and promote traditional values in their homes, mothers are on the frontlines of the culture war.
And as long as there is a mother-wolf in her den defending her cubs, it’s a war we will win.
