King George III called his American adversary the greatest man alive and General Henry Lee rightly observed that Washington was, “First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.”

Like all men, George Washington was flawed. But unlike all men, he showed incredible courage, nobility, self-sacrifice, and honor.

George Washington led a rag-tag militia to victory against an imperial superpower. He turned down a crown and forged a nation out of grit and conviction.

We cannot move forward without understanding the past. We need figures who inspire us to be better. We need models for what America could still be.

More than just a historical figure, George Washington is a symbol of what made America great and what could make America great again.

Take a moment today and honor the legacy of President George Washington.

Happy birthday, Mr. President!
