Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird announced that her office will prosecute non-citizens who voted illegally. This highlights the importance of voter integrity in our state and undermines Democrat claims that such cases are a non-issue.
Irving Omar Ahumada Geronimo of Palo Alto County and Jorge Oscar Sanchez-Vasque of Marshalltown have both been charged with illegally registering to vote and voting in local elections. Both were legal residents of the United States, but non-citizens.
There have been no reports of non-citizens voting in Warren County
First-degree election misconduct is a class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of $750 to $7,500.
Despite multiple prosecutions, Democrat politicans and the legacy media insist that its not a major issue. The same newspaper that predicted Kamala Harris would win Iowa said, “The prosecutions come in the wake of a Republican-led crackdown on noncitizen voting and allegations that Democrats were trying to steal elections with noncitizen voting. However, there has been no evidence of a widespread effort to register noncitizens to vote across the U.S.”
Apparently, the attorney general’s office disagrees. Voter integrity is important to our system of government. The promotion of the leftwing narrative by publications like The Des Moines Register highlights the importance of alternative, conservative media.
