For years, including 2024, the Democratic Party of Iowa published their party platform online, just like the Republicans. Bleedingheartland.com confirmed Democrats never published their 2026 platform. Email inquiries to the state Democratic party and personal inquiries to the Warren County office did not result in a copy. Recently, they also removed the 2024 platform.

On October 15th, the 2026 platform was published on Bleedingheartland.com. The link is

platform-democracy-in-action/.

The Iowa Democratic Party Platform Demands:

1. Eliminating the Electoral College, the United States Senate, the filibuster and the two party system.

2. Expanding the House of Representatives and making it supreme over the Executive and the Judiciary, thereby eliminating the system of checks and balances which restrains government power.

3. Expanding the Supreme Court.

4. A competitive multi-party democracy.

The Electoral College and the Senate were enshrined in the Constitution in part to protect the small states like Iowa. The Senate and the filibuster are intended to ensure thoughtful, deliberative actions and forestall radical ones. These positions mimic those of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Other provisions: 1. A parent denying “gender affirming care”, I.e. puberty blockers, wrong sex hormones, and mutilation surgeries, is “child abuse”. 2. Schools can hide child sex transitions from parents. 3. Gender confused boys in girls sports/locker rooms. 4. Police and guns banned from schools. 5. Repeal self- defense castle doctrine and stand your ground laws. Ban modern rifles/magazines.

Mandatory expensive repetitive training courses for gun owners. Background check if you sell/buy a gun from your cousin or friend. Mandatory liability insurance.

The Iowa Democratic Party Platform plank for each of the above propositions is set forth below and, when available, the equivalent position from the Democratic Socialists of America. A more detailed discussion of the relationship between the DSA platform and Iowa Democratic Party Platform follows. Both are attached.

It appears that the authors of the Iowa platform planks calling for a replacement

of our federal government system are intimately connected with the Democratic

Socialists of America (DSA). The call for the elimination of the electoral college, the filibuster, and the two party system and expanding the House of Representatives originally appear in the DSA’s 2025 program, published before the Iowa June 13, 2026 convention. The first report of the DSA announcing that a call for elimination of the Senate and making the Congress supreme over the president and the judiciary would be in their 2026 platform was when the City Journal

reported it on June 17 th , shortly after the Iowa convention. https://www.city- journal.org/article/democratic-socialists-of-america-workers-deserve-more.

The 2026 DSA platform “Workers Deserve More” is at https://program.dsausa.org/?akid=61630.117679.ww-CxD&rd=1&t=2

It appears, incredibly, that the Iowa Democratic Platform called for elimination of the Senate (by collapsing the House and Senate into a unicameral Congress which would be an expanded House of Representatives) and for making Congress supreme, on or immediately after the convention on June 13 th , and before the City Journal announcing DSA went public with these positions on June 17th. The close timing indicates coordination or at least insider knowledge of DSA plans.

This is also consistent with DSA’s statement, in the program, that their 2026 program, was “drafted between the months of April and June 2026.” The DSA program was officially released on July 14 th .

Who would think the Iowa Democratic Party would put these radical calls for action in their platform even before the DSA officially released their program?

And then keep them secret so Party insiders would know, but the public would not? Didn’t a Party and its candidates, who supposedly champion transparency and accountability, have a duty to reveal this extremist platform to the public?
