Warren’s Voice started a new series called “Translating Democrats”. As Iowa has become more conservative, Democrats in the Hawkeye State are forced to mask their radical policies behind moderate-sounding, populist-coded phraseology. But what’s behind the slogan?

Here’s our “translation” of some of Sinikka Waugh’s major talking points.
“Strong Schools”
Democrat Sinikka Waugh: Public school funding should go to public schools. I’ll focus on capping ESA tuition increases, limiting who qualifies, and stopping the program from growing unchecked because local schools have been covering that tab long enough. When rural schools close, communities close. I won’t let that happen.

Warren’s Voice Translation: Iowa Senate candidate Sinikka Waugh wants government schools to be the only viable option for Iowa families. She wants to make sure that your children are indoctrinated by the state. Afterall, if your children have other affordable options, they might not find out about all 27+ genders or about how evil America’s founding was. Waugh’s policies would ensure that if you desire an alternative education for your own children you will have to personally fund their education through homeschooling or private schools while also paying for your neighbors’ education in the government schools. This is not a question of supporting or not supporting community schools. This is about who gets to decide how your kids are educated and whether or not the state will impose a monopoly on K-12 education.
“Woman’s Healthcare”
Democrat Sinikka Waugh: I want my daughters to have a safe place to deliver their babies. In Iowa, that is no longer guaranteed. More than half of Iowa’s counties have no OB/GYN coverage. Labor and delivery units are closing, particularly in rural areas. Obstetricians are leaving the state because current legislation has made the safe practice of their specialty legally untenable. The result: longer distances to care, delayed emergency intervention, and greater risk to mothers and newborns. It’s time for a legislator who will stand up and address this crisis head on – to give mothers and families the care they deserve.

Warren’s Voice Translation: This isn’t just about women having “a safe place to deliver their babies”. It’s actually the exact opposite. Waugh wants to ensure that some babies aren’t delivered; that they are killed through abortion. Fearmongering about healthcare is cover to make sure the big business of abortion-on-demand is protected. Pro-life legislation (the “current legislation” candidly referenced above) does not in any way limit a woman’s access to true reproductive care. What Sinikka Waugh actually wants to do is strip back the pro-life advancements made and bring us back to mass infanticide. Ironically, motherhood and families will be hurt in the name of giving “mothers and families the care they deserve”.
Underneath these benign sounding phrases lies a far left, liberal ideology.
Make sure you fully understand what candidates are actually saying before you decide you’re “with the Waughs”.
