Sinikka Waugh is running for Iowa Senate District 11. Can we expect the same deception in her campaign that she practiced on behalf of her husband in 2024?

On 10/12/24, Maggie Melville wrote in the Indianola Independent Advocate, “(Spencer) Waugh’s views are definitely liberal views with favoring abortions….Why are we seeing a fetus as part of a woman’s body when that fetus will become another human being. Do you kill kittens or puppies when you do not want any more dogs or cats?”
Sinikka Waugh responded: “First, on the subject of killing babies (or kittens or puppies) let me be a abundantly clear: Spencer Waugh does not advocate for murder, infanticide or killing small animals”.
Sinikka’s response wasn’t “clear” at all. The issue was abortion. Instead of a straightforward answer addressing the issue of abortion, Sinikka addressed “murder, infanticide, or killing small animals.”
Lawful abortion is an exception to the murder statutes. Infanticide refers to the killing of an infant after it is born alive. The killing of small animals was only raised to ask why people would approve of the killing of an unwanted unborn child when they would not approve the killing of an animal for the same reasons.
One can “not advocate for murder, infanticide or killing small animals” while still being a strong advocate for legal abortion.
An “abundantly clear” answer would have specified the circumstances under which Spencer Waugh supported lawful abortion and why.
We can expect similar stealth campaigns from the Waughs this year. If you want clarity instead of obfuscation, straight talk instead of double talk, common sense conservatives instead of a liberal dynasty representing you, vote Republican!
