Some ballots in Warren County contained errors concerning the Des Moines school board race. Warren County Auditor Kimberly Sheets indicated some ballots stated to choose no more than one candidate for the at-large seat on the school board when the ballots should have instructed voters to select no more than two.

These errors were reported to the Iowa Secretary of State office.

Sheets, a Democrat, became auditor in Warren County after Democrats pushed for a special election in 2023. She later won a four year term in 2024.

This is not the first time there have been errors on Warren County ballots. In the 2024 election, some Warren County ballots also contained errors. The Warren County Republicans issued an extensive report documenting these errors. That report may be read below.

Voters must be confident that when they fill out a ballot the information and instructions on that ballot are accurate. The integrity of our county’s election process is undermined by these errors.

Will officials take the necessary actions to prevent such errors in the future? Time will tell.
