Despite what some might say, Columbus really was a hero. He risked his life to advance mankind’s understanding and exploration of the world. George Grant argues that Christopher Columbus was “the last crusader”, motivated largely by a defense of Christendom.
Whatever his motivations may have been, Columbus introduced Christian-influenced culture to the Western Hemisphere which has been a net positive for the entire globe.
Though a flawed man like the rest of us, Columbus was also a great man who changed the course of history.
Cultures should respect and honor the people who shaped their civilization.
