Though the AP still hasn\u2019t called the race, the incumbent Republican has declared <\/a>victory. Miller-Meeks was congratulated on social media by Governor Kim Reynolds, Senator Joni Ernst, and other Iowa leaders. With 99% reporting, Miller-Meeks leads the race by nearly 800 votes, a significant lead in the competitive First District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite all of this, Bohannan has resisted conceding the race. In a statement on X, Christina Bohannan said, \u201cThis race is still too close to call and we are expecting more ballots to come in over the coming days.\u201d It\u2019s unclear where the Democrat expects these ballots to come from and how this would overcome Congresswoman Miller-Meeks\u2019 triple digit vote lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her concession to President Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris said, \u201cA fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results.\u201d It remains unclear whether Christina Bohannan will accept the result of the District 1 race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iowa GOP also congratulated Miller-Meeks, saying, \u201cWe are excited to send our FULL Republican Delegation back to Congress to continue fighting for Iowans. The voters rejected the Democrats’ radical agenda and chose common-sense instead.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warren County did its part to achieve this victory. Miller-Meeks won 55.6% of the vote in our county, defeating Bohannan by 3,586 votes.
