Last week, we ran an article <\/a>highlighting the competetive race in Iowa’s First District between Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks and former state representative Christina Bohannan. KCCI recently fact checked<\/a> an attack ad from the Bohannan campaign and concluded that it was untrue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The attack ad from the Bohannan campaign attempted to tie Dr. Miller-Meeks to pro-life legislation passed by the Iowa legislature. The KCCI article says<\/a>, “The ad starts with this claim: ‘Iowa now has one of the strictest abortion bans in the country because of Mariannette Miller-Meeks.’ The claim isn’t true.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unable to run on the failed economic and foreign policies of the Biden-Harris administration, leftwing groups have used scare tactics to rally support against pro-life candidates. These attacks often utilize misleading characterizations of the scope of pro-life laws. Christina Bohannan appears to be employing such tactics as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many conservatives would see connecting Miller-Meeks to Iowa’s pro-life policies as a compliment, such a connection is extremely misleading. As a member of U.S. House, Dr. Miller-Meeks cannot introduce or vote for Iowa laws. Obviously, as a former state lawmaker running for U.S. House, Christina Bohannan would know the difference between state and federal legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saying that Iowa laws that protect the unborn are “because of Mariannette Miller-Meeks” is simply false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such misleading ads undermine the integrity of the Bohannan campaign. This fearmongering distracts from the real issues of the election and does not serve the interest of Iowa voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
